The arrival of the EVision S and X is expected in 2023

At the 2021 China International Exposition (CIIE) held in Shanghai a few days ago, Apollo Automobil unveiled a spectacular creature that looked like something out of a science fiction movie. It was Project EVO , that is, an even wilder version of the company's Intensa Emozione, accompanied by a multitude of sharp edges and a design that left all attendees speechless. However, the hypercar was not the only one to steal the spotlight.

Path to Sustainable Mobility

We say this because the company's electric vehicle arm, known as the Apollo Future Mobility Group , has found a much more sensible vehicle with which to become known. It is the first 100% electric sedan from the former Gumpert firm, a sportier and even more luxurious alternative to the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan. The EVision S features an attractive and elegant design with coupe styling, a four-door body and, like many prototypes, conspicuously absent door handles and tiny rear-view mirrors.

In a bold description on its website, Apollo says the EVision shows that "a future of electric mobility does not have to be defined by the anonymous 'utility' designs showcased by legacy automakers." But the sedan will not be the only one to reach (landing in the market is expected for 2023) as it will be accompanied by an SUV known as EVision X . This will present greater proportions, a light signature very similar to that of its brother, as well as a coupe-style silhouette of the BMW X6 or Audi Q8.

The front of the vehicle is also somewhat reminiscent of a Lamborghini Urus, although of course, this model will rival the Tesla Model X and the Mercedes EQS SUV. The company has not disclosed the details of the powertrain, but has developed an 800-volt electric powertrain that should be leveraged in both concepts. As we say, everything indicates that the production version of EVision S will arrive in 2023 , so the SUV variant should not be delayed much more.

"The exciting yet practical innovations we showcased at CIIE 2021 are showing our colleagues and industry partners a roadmap for the future of performance and mass electric mobility," said Ho King Fung Eric, President of AFMG. "Our group offers a complete set of services to the industry that accelerate innovation, ranging from design, engineering, simulation, prototyping and testing of prototypes to pre-production models."
